JFK 5th Grade Proud To Be and American solo auditions will be the week of May 9th. Some videos to help practice with can be found here PTB Audition PlaylistBest of luck to all!
What a week! On Tuesday, I traveled with my Parmenter 5th graders and Thursday I traveled with my JFK 3rd and 5th graders to Providence, RI to sing, listen, and play recorders with the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra! This year the theme was The Orchestra Moves! We got to see professional musicians, singers, conductor, actors, and even some local dancers! To show our school spirit we all wore our Parmenter and JFK colors! Every adult on the field trip was so impressed at how respectful our students were.
Thank you so much to the Parmenter and JFK PCC that helped make this field trip possible! Looking forward to next year, The Orchestra Rocks! Here are some pictures and videos of this amazing performance!
Also, Bravo to all my JFK 5th graders today as they performed their final 5th grade chorus and recorder concert! Next up, Proud to Be An American show!
Here is one of my all time favorite Scott Joplin pieces, "Maple Leaf Rag"!

Mrs. Trottier's Class
Students in multiple grades listened to "The Viennese Musical Clock" and did different activities to help find the beat and identify parts that were same and different. In older classes, students were able to identify the form!
Here is a fun game I play in K-1. Students wake up the grizzly bear by hearing and singing the resting tone!
Mr. McCarthy's Class
Here is another fun activity I do with K-1. Students identify the macro (big) beat and the micro (small) beat. Once students can put this beat in their bodies we transfer the beat to barred instruments (xylophone, metalophone, glockenspiels). Students also create an ABA form using the two parts!
